TOZ VE GÖK / DUST AND SKY

“Toz ve Gök” serisinde kendi geçmişimden parçaları, mimariyi ve heykeli fotoğrafla yeniden kurguladığım görüntülerle birleştiriyorum. Bilinçaltımdan süzülen ve hafızamda parlayıp sönen imgeleri birbirleriyle çakıştırarak ürettiğim “Toz ve Gök” serisindeki işler, hafızanın geçmiş ve bugün arasında sürekli bir köprü olarak işleyen dinamik yapısını yansıtmayı amaçlıyor. Bu çalışmalarda parçası olduğumuz ve algılarımızı aşan evrene ait yaşanmış ve yaşanmamış kesitler toza belki de fotoğraf olduklarını akılda tutarak yeniden ifade ettiğimizde piksellere dönüşüyor.

Hatırlamanın silinme ve yeniden kurguyla belirlenen işleyişini, üst üste binen ve birbirinin içinde eriyen formların iki fotoğraf anını buluşturmasıyla görünür kılmayı istiyorum. Mimarinin yıkık ve abidevi olan arasındaki döngüsü “Toz ve Gök” teki işlerimin çift katmanlı yapısını oluşturuyor

Yan yana duran, kesişen, birbirlerinin içinde eriyip bütünleşen fotoğraf yüzeyleri ise heykelsi imgenin doğasını araştırıyor.  Çizgisel olmayan bir tarih anlayışıyla düzenlenen bu imgeler, fotoğraf parçalarını bir bütüne dönüştürerek yeniden canlandırıyor.

Bu seri yıllar içinde oluşturduğum fotoğraf arşivlerinin aslında bir bütün olduğunu fark etmemi sağladı, fotoğrafçı gözüyle biriktirdiklerimi birbirine bağlayan iplikler ortaya saçıldı.  Bu ortaya saçılma hali görüntünün etrafında şekillenen aidiyet ve mülkiyet ilişkilerini de çözmeye başladı. Henüz çekilmemiş fotoğraflar ve arşivimde olanların birleşimiyle ortaya çıkacak yeni çalışmalar bu serinin sürekliliğine işaret ediyor.

DUST AND SKY / TOZ VE GÖK

In the “Dust and Sky” series I reconnect pieces of my own personal history with my recompositions of the architectural and sculptural images through photograph.  I have created the works in this series by superposing images that are sifted in my unconscious and remembered through flashbacks. These works reflect the dynamic structure of memory manifesting itself as a continuous bridge between past and present.  The images in “Dust and Sky” exists in universe we are already a part of yet surmounting our imagination. The lived in and has not been lived segments of this universe turn into dust or in other words into pixels if we keep in mind the fact that they are pieces of photographs.  

I want to reveal the act of remembering characterized by erasure and reconstruction by matching two photographic moments through molding and overlapping forms. The architectural cycle between the demolished and the monumental shapes the double-layered structure of “Dust and Sky”.  Photographic surfaces standing side-by-side, intersecting and melting into one explore the nature of the sculptural image.  These images organized through a non-linear understanding of history, reinvigorate the pieces of photographs as they turn them into a unified whole. 

The series helped me to realize the photograph archives I have created over years indeed constituted an entity; the threads connecting the photographs spread out.  This spreading dissolved the associations of belonging and possession weaved around the images.  The new works to be formed through the combination of not yet taken photographs and the ones in my archive suggests the continuity of this project.
