YENİ DOĞMUŞ / NEW BORN

Varoldukları zaman dilimine rengârenk anlamlar yükleyen, kısa ömürlü olmalarına rağmen sanki öncesi ve sonrası yokmuş gibi içine doğdukları havayı kaplayan bu baloncukları, “uzun ömürlü soyut objeler” olarak tanımlamayı tercih ediyorum. Baloncukların kendi kusursuz ve uçucu yüzeyleriyle üzerinde göründükleri fotoğraf kağıdının kalıcı yüzeyi arasındaki gerilimi seviyorum.

İçlerine hapsettikleri havayı beklenmedik yok oluşlarıyla birlikte yeniden serbest bırakan, sonsuzlukta açtıkları parantez aniden kapanan bu “uzun ömürlü soyut objeler” sürreal olanın sınırlarında dolaşıyorlar. Rüyamsı varlıkları onları sahip olunamayacak bir anın tanıklarına dönüştürüyor. Işığı büküp gökkuşağına dönüştüren şeffaf ve değişken yüzeyleri sanki görünmez bir iradenin yönlendirmesiyle istedikleri şekli alıyor.

Birdenbire yok olmalarına rağmen bence umutsuzluk taşımıyor bu objeler; olumsuz çağrışımlar incecik yüzeylerinin üzerinden kayıp gidiyor. Canlılığına henüz kavuşmuş birer embriyo gibi büyüyen, şekil değiştiren, nefes alan bu objeleri doğaya geri bırakmak istiyorum. “Yeni Doğmuş” serisindeki fotoğraflarım tüm farklılıkları ve renklilikleriyle sanki kurallarını kendilerinin belirledikleri bir toplum oluşturuyorlar.

NEW BORN / YENİ DOĞMUŞ

Despite their short-lived presence, I prefer to define these bubbles enveloping the air into which they were born as if there was no before or after and attributing varicolored meanings to the time span in which they exist as “durable abstract objects”.  I like the tension between the seamless and fugacious surfaces of the bubbles and the durable surface of the photograph paper on which they appear.  As if the bubbles are real and flow in the air, the photographs are freely suspended on the wall on which they are shown.    

As they release the air they locked inside with their sudden vanish, as the parenthesis they have opened inside the eternal closes in a flash, these “durable abstract objects” wander around the frontiers of the surreal. Their dream-like presence turns them into witnesses of a moment never to be possessed. Their transparent and fluid surfaces wrapping light into a rainbow get into any shape they desire through the direction of an invisible will. 

Even though they abruptly disappear I don’t think that these objects carry hopelessness; negative connotations slip away their gossamer surfaces. I want to put these objects growing, transforming and breathing like a newly formed embryo back to nature where they belong. It seems to me the photographs in my New Born series constitute a society whose rules are decided by them selfs.
